http://pandorawreckancestors.net/family-histories/george-stewart/
- He came from one of Orkney?s 'landed' families; his father was Alexander Stewart of Masseter and his mother Margaret Rican.
Masseter (Massater?) is an estate on South Ronaldsay. Father claimed descent from Mary Queen of Scots' half-brother Robert Stewart.
Apparently the family moved to Stromness while George was a boy; ostensibly to give George and his siblings better educational opportunities. George had at least five siblings, among them two brothers - Walter and Robert. | Family: STEWART, Alexander / RICAN, Margaret (F7312)

- Child #1 Manuela FOXEN (1860 census - age 6) is stated as the daughter of Guillermo William Benjamin Juan Jose Foxen and Dominga Garcia; San Ramon Chapel Pioneers, page 29
PARENTS OF JUAN ANTONIO GARCIA: [NOTE: Unsure which Dominga GARCIA is his mother- JSR]
FOXEN FATHER and GARCIA MOTHER:
A) Posted 16 Apr 2015 by clnjjens (ancestry.com)
The name Foxen is derived from the family descended from Benjamin Foxen, a founder of santa Barbera, who purportedly convinced freemont to bypass Gaviotta in the California Mexican War in 1846.
So the family lore goes, Juan's mother was a servant in the Foxen house and had three children by Foxen. Aparently Juan had red hair just like some of the other Foxen men adding fodder to the story.
B) Per descendent J. Lorenzana, 1 Jun 2016 (e-mail correspondence)
Juan Garcia was the result of A Foxen (Santa Inez area) and Dominga Garcia, a housemaid. He sired 3 children by Dominga. As a young man, he [Juan Garcia] ran away from the Foxen household and used the surname of his mother GARCIA. | Family: FOXEN, Guillermo Benjamin Juan Jose "William J." / GARCIA, Dominga (F7269)

Tall, spare man, almost skinny...worked very hard, very strong.
in contrast to these strong German men, Ed was the opposite.
Ed told stories to Henry and Ruth Metzler
When Ed was a little boy growing up...had no indoor plumbing. So when he had to go to the bathroom, his mother would say, Edward put your hat on...to go outside to the outhouse.
Put on his hat, down the hallway....to go to the bathroom....in regular house.
