OBITUARY - UTICA HERALD-DISPATCH, SATURDAY EVENING, OCTOBER 12, 1918 Mrs. Ernest Riep. Mary Swald, wife of Ernest Riep, died at her home, 1302 Hickory Street, at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, after an illness of several days. Her death will bring sorrow for she was well know and highly respected. Mrs. Riep was born in this city March 21, 1885, a daughter of Philip and Catharine Swald. She received her education in the public schools, and June 13, 1904, she became the bride of Ernest Riep. She was a member of Zion's Lutheran Church. Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by two daughters, Edna and Lillian; two brothers, Ernest and Alfred Swald; and a sister, Helen Swald. The family has the sympathy of many friends. Riep were married at the German Trinity Lutheran Church last evening by Rev. C. A. Germann. A reception was largely attended at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Swald, 99 Warren street. Among the guests present were Mrs. and Mrs. Carl Miller of Rome.
