Alejo Antonio Duarte: First mentioned as a soldier of the guard at Mission San Gabriel on 15 November 1772; corporal of the Monterey Company at the time of his violent death; in a jealous rage, he had knifed Josef Antonio Espinosa, who subsequently shot "Alejo" Duarte.
