Prologue
... On November 7, 1779, five boys and eleven girls were removed from the Real Casa de Expositos and placed in the Real Hospicio de Pobres (Royal Hospice for the Poor) of Mexico City. There they waited until January 28, 1800, when they traveled to San Blas to board the frigate Concepcion for California.
